MATT FENTON 4, FINE ARTS PAINTER
FINE WATERCOLOR, OIL, PASTEL ARTIST SPECIALIZING IN CITYSCAPES, RAILROAD SCENES, AND SCENIC VISTAS
Matt Fenton's interest in painting and drawing started at a young age, when he was influenced by the paintings he saw visiting the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Fenton is inspired by the beauty of the visual environment, and draws on the technical approach he learned in his engineering career. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer who gave up his engineering practice to devote his full attention to fine art painting.
Matt’s artistic education began in the 1970s at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and continued at Baltimore’s School 33 for the Arts, the Mitchell School, Zoll Studio, the Schuler School of Fine Art and the Art Students League of New York. His favorite media are oil, watercolor and pastel.
He loves painting Eastern Shore marshes, beaches everywhere, rural, urban, rail and historic scenes. His watercolor and oil landscapes provide windows into life in New York, Baltimore and the Chesapeake region. Many of his paintings offer a nostalgic glimpse at the golden age of American trains. He favors a realist style often with impressionistic brushwork.
Matt happily lives with his wife Laura in Maryland, where he finds inspiration every day.
